Terms of Service
Last updated: 6 June 2026
The short version
- Warmup is free. No accounts, no sign-up, no subscription, no in-app purchases.
- Your data is yours and it stays on your device. Warmup has no server and collects nothing about you — see the Privacy Policy for the full story.
- You are responsible for backing up your own work. Use Export often. If your data is lost, we can't recover it — there's no copy anywhere else.
- Warmup is provided "as is." It's offered in good faith and with care, but with no warranties, and we are not liable for any loss or damage that may result from using it.
- Use it lawfully and non-commercially. Warmup is licensed under CC BY-NC-ND 4.0.
That's the gist. The rest of this page is the detail.
Accepting these terms
By downloading, opening, or using Warmup, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the app. If you're using Warmup on behalf of an organization, you confirm you're allowed to accept these terms for that organization — but note the non-commercial licence terms below.
What Warmup is
Warmup is an offline-first task worksheet. It runs entirely on your own device. There is no account to create and no service to log in to. How Warmup handles your data is described in full in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
Your licence to use Warmup
Warmup is © 2026 Chaddus Bruce-Wen and licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International licence (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0).
In plain English, you may:
- use Warmup for your own personal, non-commercial purposes; and
- share the unmodified app, as long as you give appropriate credit.
You may not:
- use Warmup commercially (for example, sell it, or use it as part of a paid product or service);
- distribute modified versions of it; or
- remove or alter the copyright, licence, or attribution notices.
These terms govern how you use the app. The CC BY-NC-ND licence governs how you may copy, share, and adapt it. If the two ever appear to conflict on copying or redistribution, the CC licence controls.
Your data and your backups
Everything you create in Warmup is stored locally on your device (in your browser's IndexedDB, or in the desktop/mobile app's local storage). We have no server, no database, and no copy of your data.
This has one important consequence: backing up your work is your responsibility. Warmup gives you the tools — use Export to download a copy of your worksheet, and Import to restore it.
Local data can be lost in ordinary ways that are outside our control, including:
- clearing your browser's data, history, or storage;
- your browser or operating system evicting site data to free space;
- uninstalling the app or moving the file;
- device loss, failure, or reset; or
- using private/incognito browsing, which may discard data when you close it.
We are not responsible for data lost in any of these ways. Export regularly and keep your backups somewhere safe.
Optional Google Drive sync
Warmup offers optional synchronization through Google Drive so your worksheets can follow you between devices. It is off by default and only runs after you explicitly enable it and sign in with Google.
When enabled, Warmup saves a copy of your worksheet content to a private, app-only folder in your own Google Drive account — it never passes through any server we operate. The full details, including exactly what is stored and the narrow permission Warmup requests, are in the Privacy Policy.
Sync is provided as a convenience, "as is," and:
- it depends on Google's services, which are governed by Google's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy;
- it may be unavailable, delayed, or change over time; and
- it is not a substitute for your own backups.
We do not guarantee that sync will be available, error-free, or that synced data will always be complete or current.
Acceptable use
When using Warmup, you agree not to:
- use it for any unlawful purpose, or to store or share unlawful content;
- use it commercially, or in any way that breaches the CC BY-NC-ND licence;
- distribute modified copies, or misrepresent modified copies as the original;
- attempt to misuse, overload, or abuse Google's APIs through the app; or
- interfere with the app's security features or use it to harm others.
You are solely responsible for the content you create, store, and share using Warmup.
No warranty — Warmup is provided "as is"
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Warmup is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE," without warranties or conditions of any kind, whether express or implied. This includes, but is not limited to, any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, or that the app will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
In everyday terms: we've built Warmup carefully and offer it in good faith, but we can't promise it will be perfect, will suit your particular needs, or will work without bugs or interruptions. You use it at your own discretion and risk.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for any loss of data, loss of productivity, business interruption, or for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, Warmup — even if advised of the possibility of such damages, and regardless of the legal theory.
Because Warmup is free, you pay nothing to use it. Accordingly, where any liability cannot be excluded but can be limited, our total aggregate liability to you for all claims relating to Warmup is limited to the amount you paid for it — which is US$0.
In plain terms: if something goes wrong — including if you lose data — we are not financially responsible. Please keep your own backups.
Your responsibilities & third parties
You use Warmup at your own risk. You are responsible for how you use the app and the content you put into it, for keeping your own backups of anything you can't afford to lose, and for complying with these terms and the laws that apply to you.
Warmup's only optional connection to an outside service is Google Drive sync. Your use of Google's services is governed by Google's own terms and privacy policy, not by these terms. We are not responsible for third-party services, their availability, or their handling of your data.
Availability & changes
Warmup is offered as-is and as-available. We may update, change, or discontinue the app or any of its features (including optional sync) at any time, and are under no obligation to provide updates, maintenance, or support.
If these terms change, the updated version will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date. Any material change will be reflected here before it takes effect. Continuing to use Warmup after an update means you accept the revised terms.
Governing law, your local rights & contact
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Warmup is used by people around the world, so this applies only to the extent permitted in your location — nothing in these terms removes the mandatory consumer-protection rights you may have under the laws of the country where you live.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law — for example, liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, that part will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the rest of the terms will remain in full effect.
